I've had this toaster for a few years now and have no complaints. I purchased it at Wal-Mart for $20 and I believe it is a great steal. It browns evenly and allows you to control the tempurature on each side from "Poptarts" level to a something that can give you a burnt and crispy taste.
I usually just toast regular slices of bread so I tend to leave the temperature on a medium-low setting. It will accomodate english muffins (sliced in half), but bagels can sometimes be on the thick side. It does not take any longer than a minute before the toast pops up. This is very convenient in the morning...
