I have had cable television since it first came out and had a long wire attached to the cube. I have finally told Time Warner to stick it and had DirectTV installed this morning. I can't wait to get home today to get my personal settings set up, etc. I know, terribly exciting! But considering the fact that every time someone moved in or out of the building I would lose my connectivity, I am really looking forward to this setup being set up. my youngest daughter lives down in her own apartment on campus at UC and said that she has never once lost connectivity with DirectTV in the year she has had it. I've lost my cable at least a dozen times in that same time period. I would also like to mention that the installation was free as was the DVR and the package I got is a lot cheaper than the one with cable. This DVR will also record two channels while I watch yet a third. The DVR with cable only had two tuners, so you could only have two shows recording or watching at the same time. Believe it or not, that has been an issue at times at my place. If things don't turn out to be as rosy as I am painting them at this point in time, I will update later. I hope they continue on at this rate!!!
I should also mention that the customer service folks that took my order were FANTASTIC. I get poor reception on my cell and lost the call four different times while placing the order. The poor guy called me back over and over again and it was getting late. He even called back after we were finished because my phone cut me off after he asked if I had any questions before I could answer. I made sure to talk to his manager and tell her how awesome he was. The techs that came out to install today were just as friendly and technically competent as he was! I hope all of my calls are that positive in the future!!! I can't remember ever calling Time Warner and not waiting for at least five to ten minutes.I can hum their waiting room music for you and ask you to please hold on because they really care about my call.... HA!
After re-reading this it is more of a GOOD review for DIRECT TV than a BAD review of TIME WARNER. The intent was to slam Time Warner when really all I did was praise Direct TV. Oh well. You get the point....
