The "new" Navigator stinks. It is going backward, not forward.

Time Warner Cable - Company —

Time Warner recently "updated" their service in the Akron, Ohio, area.  The "grouping" of various channels by theme was OK - just takes a little getting used to after a number of years with the same channel lineup.  Re-programming "Favorite" channels went OK, except that I now have several channels that are offered in basic and expanded basic, as well as digital, showing up on my "favorites" 2 or 3 times.  That I can handle, also.  However, last Monday, April 14, 2008,. they "updated" their navigator.  I guess that that is the program that they use so that customers can get the onscreen menus, program information, etc.  IT STINKS.  Previous to this "improvement", we were able to click on "Guide", then when the program guide came onscreen, we were able to click "Favorites", and the onscreen display would show the programming for the next "Favorite" channel that was programmed, along with the programming for channels above and below, without changing the channel that was currently set.  Now, the "new and improved" navigator requires that we use the arrow keys to find out what is on channels other than the one we are watching.  If we try to use the previous system of Guide, then going through the Favorites, the new sytem in its infinite wisdom, automatically changes channels, whether we want it to or not.  We are quite capable of hitting the "Select" key when we want to change channels.  Several employees, when contacted by phone, have stated that this is apparently the way the system is, and we have no choice.  It stinks.  Now we have fewer options, in that we now need to use the arrow keys and go through each and every channel to find out what is on at any given time.  There are many times, in our household, that we do not know what we are going to watch, in what category.  We want the program guide to come up, and to have the option of not having to use arrow keys and go through each and every channel, just to see what is on.  My favorites are programmed so that we are able to get a good grasp of most of TWCs programming, but they are useless now, since we do not necessarily want to change the channel immediately.

I'm really glad to know that I am not the only one who feels that way. The other box, the one in my room, did not update, and I do not want it to - it is slower than molasses anyway, and if I have to arrow through all channels, then it will take me all day to find 1 measly program to watch or put on for my grandson. I did not know about the DVR recording both channels - thanks for the "heads up". I have already complained to TWC about this, and will continue to do so.

You are right on the money my friend! The only way you can get the other guide back is to have an older box (not scientific atlanta) that is not a DVR. We now not only have a new guide to get used to but if a channel is on the guide 2 times then the DVR recordes both channels and you can not watch anything else!!! I hate the new system... If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
