About 4 years ago I signed with TWC Kansas City on a package for cable( up to channel 74), 768Kbps road runner (it's plenty fast for me, don't download much), and digital phone for the price of $75 a month plus taxes. Well my 1 year contract ended and for the past 3 years I have been getting the package for the same price, they never have raised the price on me. Well about 2 weeks ago I got a letter stating that my price will be going up $2 dollars a month, So I decided it was time to upgrade. Checked out all the options including Directv, Dish & AT&T U-verse, I found problems with all of them. The satellite cable packages come with DSL internet which I heard people have a lot of problems with the reliablity of it. Also they are not local companies so I would be sort of worried about that, and the reliability of satellites. I checked in AT&T u-verse they have a deal right now for all 3 services for $94 a month but that's only good for 6 months and then the price raises $30 so it will be $124 a month plus taxes. I called Time Warner and they are going to give me digital cable with HD so I will be getting over 260 channels plus the OnDemand, 1.5Mbps road runner, and digital phone for $97 a month plus taxes and that's a 15 month price lock guarantee.
I have never had any problems with TWC, they have never just raised the price on me, like I said they actually kept my price the same for 3 years after my contract ended. The service has always been pretty good, I have never experienced many or long cable or internet outages (except for the occasional times they work on the lines which around here is only about twice a year). None of my services go out during a thunderstorm or even a snow storm. I truthfully have had excellent reliability from TWC, I haven't even had to make one service call since I signed into the contract 4 years ago.
As far as prices everyone I called gave me (for the 3 service package) TWC was the cheapest. AT&T was $94 a month for 6 months then $124 a month after that. Direct TV (was actually a little cheaper) was $85 a month for a year but they have 2 year contracts and after the 1st year the prices goes up to $110 a month plus taxes. I can't remember exactly what Dish was but it was over $100 a month. So I will be getting more channels & better internet with TWC for less money than the others.
As for customer service, I haven't dealt with them much since I haven't made any service calls. But just calling the different companies to get information, TWC's people were pleasant to speak with. Also TWC & AT&T were not pushy like the Satellite providers, Directv & Dish were very pushy trying to get me to sign into contract with them.
I am really statisfied with TWC, I have never had any problems with the service, and I would say the price i'm getting is pretty fair and none of the other companies can really beat it.
