Time Warner Cable - Company —
Since Adelphia was purchased by Time Warner Cable service outages are less frequent, however prices have become even more expensive, especially if you upgrade to an HD TV. The billing switch over however was horrible and I'm absolutely sure they double charged me for a month.
For my old TV I only had basic cable and the cost was only a hair less than satillite so out of lazyness to shop around I stuck with them.
Earlier this year I upgraded to a HD TV and have discovered how disapointing and expensive HD service with TWC is compared to alternatives such as satillite or fiber. TWC has only a fraction the channels carried by alternative technologies, charge more for those channels, and on top of that charge extra for an HD ready cable box. They promote having local HD channles at no cost for digital pacakges. However this is misleading as they must do this by law anywise.
For DVR their technology is inferior to Tivo or Satillite and they charge a montly fee. For an HD DVR prices are even higher.
Consumers need to be aware cable is not the only game anymore, and they no longer have a monopoly on TV service. The only way TWC and other cable providers will "get a clue" is if customers get smart and switch to superior less costly alternatives.
