Tide-to-Go Instant Stain Remover —

Bottom-Line:  Good-bye stains

Its spring, well summer and that means a change of dinning room table linens from the forgiving earth-tone to the very unforgiving light colors my wife loves.  But light colors mean dirt and stains especially on matching placemats; in fact the hapless multi-colored mats were not on the table for a week before food stains has taken up residence.

My poor wife cut out plastic sheeting to place over the mats, but then we lack a way to practically mate the two together and prevent the plastic from sliding.  Isn't lucky for my wife (and me) that along came Tide-to-Go Pen instant stain remover.

The Product

Tide-to-Go instant stain remover is a well, a pen about the size and shape of a Sharpie highlighter that contain Tide liquid detergent.  In fact, the tip is shaped like a small Sharpie highlighter which makes for smooth, controlled, precision detergent application.  Proctor & Gamble, the makes of Tide-to-Go, market the product as an instant stain remover good for liquid and or fresh food.

My Viewpoint

It is recommended that you remove any excess residue from the stain area before using the pen.  Once this is accomplished, simply press the tip onto the stain several times to release the cleaning agent, onto the stained area.  Then gently rub across the stain to remove it, and if necessary depress the tip again to add more cleaning solution to the problem area and continue to rub until the stain is gone.

In our case, my wife wanted to remove pizza sauce (Unos of course) from one of the placemats.  She applied the remover and rubbed gently as the instruction bade, and in seconds the stain started to disappear.  I think is worth pointing out that the placemats are made of 100% cotton.  My wife let the placemat dry overnight before pronouncing success, so I am not sure how long it area actually took to dry, and the instructions do not mention it.

We have found a new cleaning product; away with the ungainly plastic sheets.  In other words my wife is satisfied that the Tide-to-Go pen can remove any stain that just happens to make its way onto our light colored placemats.  So the Tide-to-Go pen has made its way into out utility drawer; now I wonder how it works on grease...
