Tide had the great idea of coming out with a quick stain-removing product that was small enough for people to carry around with them. With the Tide To Go, they have a product that is no bigger than a thick pen, and can be carried in a purse or tossed into a glove compartment as easy as anything else you would carry around with you. It works just like a pen too, as you pop the lid off of it, touch the tip to the stain several times to release some of the solution, and simply rub the tip along the stain until you are satisfied with the results. If too much solution comes out of the pen, it is simply a matter of wiping it off with a damp cloth or napkin, and going about your business. The intent is that with the use of the pen, you can remove any stains that could set in, and that it will only take a few seconds to do all of that. The pen itself will last between 10 and 20 applications, and it will just depend on how much of the solution you use on a given stain. This is plenty of use for one pen in my opinion, because though it may seem like it, stains don't occur on a daily basis for most people. It is safe for most color, machine washable, and dry cleanable fabrics, so if you wear it on a daily basis, think of it as a fabric that is acceptable to use this on.
The Tide To Go does work very well for the jobs that it was put to here. For this particular pen, it was tested on sauces and each of them (even tomato based) was quickly removed before a stain could set into the shirt long term. Simply touching the pen to the stain, releasing a little of the solution, and wiping the tip of the pen across a couple of times did the trick perfectly. It removed the potential stains, along with a couple of stains that had been on the shirt for a short while already. After use of the Tide To Go pen had been completed, I was happy to see that it did not leave a mark on the shirt, and that when it ended up drying, that there was no evidence that a stain had once resided there. The recommended products that the Tide To Go pen should be used on are; BBQ sauce, grape juice, tomato juice, coffee, and soda. They do note that the Tide to Go does not perform as well on non-food and drink stains; which include ink, grease, blood, and grass stains.
With the Tide To Go pen, we now have something that is easy to carry around, can be put to discrete use at any time, and gets the job done well and quickly. For every stain that this pen has been put up against, it has come through in the crunch, and has made me very happy with the product overall. It is not an expensive little toy, if you stop to consider that you would really rather be able to remove food from your tie or nice shirt, and not suffer through any potential embarrassments of people thinking you might be a slob. The key here, is to understand that there is no such product that will remove every single stain that you could put on your clothes. But, when it comes to food-based stains (and even coffee), Tide To Go is really a great product to have around. I think that with the convenience that it affords its users, and because it did perform so well when used on these food stains, that it is worth the price of picking one up, and keeping it close by when you are eating an important dinner. To have a safety net like this around, I highly recommend purchasing one, and keeping it for nights where you are out on a date, getting ready for a presentation, or eating with the boss. Not only could it save you from a stain, but it could improve your overall presentation to the person you are with. I think it works well, and I give the Tide To Go pen my seal of approval.
