Ticket To Ride —

This award-winning game has a fun back story and lots of variety even in its basic game play. Players (from 2-5) attempt to connect cities with a row of their little train cars, getting points for each city-to-city route, as well as for the multi-city destination as a whole. Competition over routes could lead to one player having to go the long way around, using up valuable time and train cars.

The 1901 expansion pack is highly recommended, as it adds even more variety to the game and also provides you with a full-sized deck of cards (the original version provides a mini-sized deck which some people don't like).

One of the things I love about this game is that it can be played with only two players. It also has an online version which is great fun!
