TiVo - Wireless G USB Adapter —

Just when you thought Tivo couldn't get better you discover the virtues of the Tivo Wireless G USB Network Adapter.  I mean, it doesn't even sound that cool does it?  But wow!

Most of us Tivo-maniacs usually start out connecting our boxes via a telephone line.  Sometime usually in the middle of the night, the box calls home (Tivo) and another day of programming is downloaded.  No big deal.  We've taken it for granted.  I always did.  But then the last Tivo we installed wasn't anywhere near a phone line.  What to do?

Go wireless of course.  But, if all going wireless gave you was a faster link to home, this wouldn't be much of a review would it?

No.  When you hook your Tivo into your wireless home network a whole new world opens up to you.

Multi-Room Viewing

You recorded a program upstairs, but now you want to watch it on the big screen downstairs.  No sweat.  Just transfer the show to the downstairs box.  It takes seconds.

Nothing to Watch?

Well if you have Tivo that notion is a stretch.  But say you really want to see a particular movie.  No problem.  Tivo partners with Amazon and Disney.  You can rent or purchase just about anything from your remote.  Extra cost?  Sure, but it's modest.

Now that Netbooks have become so affordable you can use your adapter to load your unseen shows and movies to your computer and watch what you really want to watch while you're flying somewhere or just taking a break.

On-line programming

Once your Tivo is made part of your home network, you can program it from anywhere in real-time by logging onto Tivo.com.  So when your friend tells you about this cool show he is about to watch, you can log on and program your Tivo to record it right then and there.

Where to Buy

Of course you can always get it at Tivo.com or at BestBuy for about $59.  But I got a pair of adapters for $39.99 each with shipping at Newegg.com.

My Viewpoint

It really is hard to remember TV before Tivo.  This little addition just makes it even better.  I recommend it highly.
