I received this Tivo box as a Christmas gift from my husband about a year ago. I was skeptical, as I felt it was just a more expensive Video Cassette Recorder...boy, was I wrong. Tivo can record your shows, just like a VCR, sure, but it can do so much more. I love the season pass feature, which ensures I never realize 15 minutes into my favorite show, that, oh, shoot, I'm missing it. It also will store each epsode in a neatly organized list. Every show has descriptions, cast information, star ratings, running times, episode numbers (if applicable), and other cool,need-to-know facts about the show. The Tivo recommendation suggestions feature learns from your viewing preferences and behaviors to record shows that you may like and storethem in an easily accessible folder. I have discovered many new favorite shows this way. A thumbs-up and thumbs-down set of buttons allows users to teach the Tivo box what they do and do not like, so that the suggestions become tailored to your own unique likes and dislikes. You cannot go wrong with this great product.

First of all we are absolute TV lovers and movie buffs.....so when the DVR devices came out, we were completey excited, thinking we would never miss another great show again.  Well at first we tried the DVR provided by the cable company, and became totally hooked but didn't like the charges the cable company was charging, so we decided to check into buying a Tivo. Checked out prices and they seemed really reasonable and decided to purchase one. We did get a Tivo and quickly became addicted.....I could record so many shows and watch them when I was ready, and the kids were settled. I love that you can fast forward through the commercials, pause live TV, then fast forward. I loved that you could search your favorite programs and schedule them to record, and you could select from new episodes or re-runs to play. Anyway, after a year of becoming completed addicted to Tivo, the hard drive died. we did research and it was going to cost as much to replace the hard drive as it would be to buy another Tivo box all together. So, while we loved the Tivo, we have not replaced it, because it simply did not last long enough for the money we had to spend!!
