We have owned Tivos for over eight years now. We just recently retired our first Tivo. We had wanted to upgrade to a HD tivo for a while. Mostly because we loved the idea of how much space they have, if you record in standard definition. Our Tivos are always full, it never fails. So the idea of a bigger drive to hold more video was a huge incentive for us. When they had a special deal recently, we jumped on it. Overall we have loved this Tivo as much as our others. We have really enjoyed some of the new benefits like being able to watch Netflix instantly. You can also look at photos online or youtube, although we haven't really used those options much. The HD Tivo does seem slightly less responsive than our other SD Tivos. There also seems to be some problems with the HD interface. We enjoyed the interface itself but it kept saying the Tivo was not connected to the network, even if it was. We eventually switched back to the SD interface just to save ourselves the frustration. We're hoping it's a kink that Tivo will eventually work out.

With two young boys, we rely on TIVO.  We decided last year to do away with our monthly cable fees.  We weren't paying much for our analog, limited basic subscription, but we realized that we were only watching major channels - NBC, ABC, CBS & PBS.  PBS is the winner in our house - how can you compete with Bob the Builder?   We ditched cable for an over-the-air HD antenna and upgraded our TIVO to this premiere series.  We were able to score the lifetime subscription and in one awesome minute in our house - we got rid of two bills and got a beautiful HD picture. We love the ability to record entire seasons with just the press of one button!  We watch YouTube videos and the house was filled with Christmas music with the ability to listen to Pandora through our TIVO.   Life really wouldn't be the same without TIVO - we would have to rely on the network schedule, instead of what really rules our house - our toddler's schedule!

I bought this item because I was tired of missing my evening show because of trying to put my little one down for the night (who likes to get out a bed 100 times before finally go sleep).  I first hooked it up so the cable line still went to the TV but was split to the TV, so I could watch a show and record two, but the splitter cause the quality to go down a lot.  With it hooked up normally the quality is great!  I like that I could program the remote to work with my tv including changing the input types, so I can switch to our blue ray or Wii or something like that.  At first I was confused because I had these green thumbs showing up during commercials and then realized that is a quick way to add something to your recording queue, if you see something you like.  I have not used the function yet but I like that it is available.  Setting up recordings is very easy and I also love that I can watch my netflix instant queue on this machine as well!
