Therm O Web HeatnBond Ultrahold —

Many of the fashions we are now creating for infants through young mommies require the fusing of one fabric to another. Sewing is not an option since it's necessary to achieve a complete bond between the fabrics across their entire surface without messing with their patterns.

Fabric glues were part of our earliest efforts. They work to varying degrees, but of course they are messy, time-consuming and sometimes just incompatible with the fabrics we're using.

A little research brought us to fusible webbing products. These are easy to apply paper-backed adhesives that can be applied to one fabric so that it may be later fused with another. I've experimented with several varieties and for my purposes I find that Therm O Web HeatnBond Ultrahold is far and away the best.

Therm O Web HeatnBond Ultrahold
Available at fabric stores such as Joann's this invisible fusing is sold in single sheet or by the yard. It is easily stored, can be cut to any shape and easily applied to virtually any fabric. It can also be used on papers, so it can be useful to scrap-bookers as well.

Using it
This product is really a pleasure to work with. Trace your pattern to the paper backing, cut it out with utility scissors and then press on to the "wrong side" of your fabric to be fused using an electric iron set on low (silk) heat. Let the fabric cool for a moment, peel the paper, position the two fabrics and iron one to another. That's it. Mission accomplished. The bond created is strong, permanent and best of all, invisible.

Advantages of Therm O Web HeatnBond

  • can be used with virtually any fabrics
  • requires no curing time before being washable
  • large quantities of fabric patterns can be treated for later application
  • no mess to clean up
  • no pinning is required to align fabric designs (an important advantage)
  • no prayer is necessary as is often the case when using glue
Therm O Web HeatnBond Ultrahold can be purchased in fabric and better craft stores for $2.29/yd. We usually purchase it at Joann's Fabrics who always seem to be offering 30% - 40% off coupons. When you're buying 30 yds or so that's a considerable saving.

My Viewpoint
If you're a fabric crafter this is a product you just have to keep around. Having previously spent hours removing fabric glue from my fingers I recommend this product highly.

Regards,
Rudi

A huge time saver. No shop. Our retail sales are primarily through boutique shows, house parties, etc. We are supplying several stores now on a wholesale basis.

This sounds like good stuff! Do you have a shop for infants/children's clothing? Karen
