Pros

    Daniel Day Lewis' performance

Although veteran actor Daniel Day Lewis gives a powerful performance in "There Will Be Blood", the movie suffers from quite a bit unnecessary violence.  Lewis' character starts off having some redeemng qualities about himself, but by the end of the movie he just totally looses his mind.  The title "There Will Be Blood" speaks for itself!

I'm a fan of Daniel Day-Lewis but I didn't have a desire to see this movie. I'm tired of the violent films. My mom saw it and agreed with you, not a good movie but Daniel Day-Lewis' acting is (as usual) outsanding. She recommends watching My Left Foot. She actually thought that he was disabled - he was very believable. That one's on my list to see.

Interesting comment. I suppose when you wrote: Lewis' character starts off having redeem qualities about himself" you mean how he cares for the young child--which we learn pretty quickly is a manipulation. He cares for the child because he realizes it is good for business and that he can use the child to get what he wants. The character actually doesn't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever, the movie doesn't compromise and pretend that he does.

That makes the movie unique and difficult for some who only want movies with positive uplifting messages. This is certainly not a feel good movie and I think the previews make that very clear.

Keep writing.
