********IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE AND ARE PLANNING TO DO NOT READ THIS. SPOILERS WILL BE MENTIONED......*******
Last House on the Left is a movie that answers the question: "What would you do if you were trapped in a home with the person/people who terrorized and tried to kill your child?".......
Let me just say this, I am NOT squeamish. Blood and guts do not disgust me. Especially in a horror movie, the more the better....but, there is a scene in this movie that made me cringe. I actually covered my eyes and if I could have I would have covered my ears as well, but, alas, I only have two hands....it wasn't the blood and gore, it was the rape scene. If you've seen the movie, you know exactly what I am talking about. It was so UNNECESSARY. I know that it was meant to make you hate the "bad" guys more, to give you a better idea of how horrible they truly are and how much they deserved to die in the ways that they did. But, still, it could have been done WITHOUT being so graphic, and in the rated version, it may have been. I don't know....we always get the UNRATED versions of everything. I feel like if I am paying for it, I should get to see ALL of it....well, sometimes you get more than you bargained for.....
With all of that said....I thought the movie was great. I think it showed exactly how two parents could.....and probably would, if they found their daughter brutalised, raped, and shot on their front porch and realize rather quickly that the people that they have been HELPING for the last little bit, the people that they actually gave a place to SLEEP for the night, were responsible for it, react.
I think the ending was terrific, the actors were great, the story was wonderful, and overall the movie was one of the best I'd seen in awhile....even if I did have to cover my eyes through some of it....;)
