The Wiggles Magical Adventure —
The Wiggles Magical Adventure a/k/a The Wiggles Movie was a big box office hit in Australia in 1997, and came to video in the US in 2004. It stands apart from the dozens of other Wiggles releases because of the added production value of a theatrical release from a major studio (20th Century Fox).The formula for so many TV-to-feature film translations is followed here to the letter, showcasing the Wiggles and their friends, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, and Captain Feathersword, as well as adding new characters like Wally the Magician (Tony Harvey) and Mrs. Bingle (Joanne Samuel). The plot concerns a surprise birthday party for Dorothy complicated by Wally's theft of Greg Wiggle's magic wand. It's not Chekhov, people, but the diaper set will eat it up
For the parent or toddler familiar with Wiggle history, it's nice to see them so young, before Greg's illness forced him to quit the group, and before Anthony got his teeth capped.
