I had the pleasure of staying at the Westin Detroit Metro Airport for 5 days during the summer.  We had originally booked a traditional doubled-bedded room but upgraded to a double-bedded club-floor room when we were told it would be free of charge using the AAA rate.  Plus, we would receive a $20 rebate just for booking the AAA rate.  Happily, we accepted.

The Westin Detroit Metro Airport is located directly in the airport which made it so convenient for us as our plane arrived at 10:00 p.m.  I was disappointed with the front desk as they could not find my reservation at first, and when they did, they had us booked for a much higher rate (even though I called and confirmed our reservation that morning).  Thankfully, I printed our confirmation the day we booked online AND one day before we arrived, proving that we did book for the AAA rate.  Unfortunately, I had to speak with a manager to correct the situation, which didn't take long but it was a nuisance as we were so tired.

The club-floor room was very nice.  I loved the convenience of having the Club Lounge a few doors down.  The food and drinks offered surpassed our expectations.  We were served everything from chocolate dipped strawberries to Apple Martinis.  The one gripe I had was that we never knew when the Club Lounge was open.  It seemed to be closed all the time, except for the one time we managed to get there a half hour before it closed.

THE ROOM -- Our room had the upgraded amenities promised (bath robes, bottled water, snack bar, etc.); however, it was very small.  It appeared to be the size of a traditional-sized room.  It did have a work desk and chair, but having those items in the room made it appear even smaller.  Now, the beds.  The beds were HEAVENLY.  The bed was so comfortable, I slept in until 11:00 a.m. every morning.  The beds were kind of high.  I almost felt like I had to climb up just to get in bed (but this was not a problem for me).  The sheets and the pillows were very soft.  I think I fell asleep on impact.

ROOM SERVICE -- Room service was less than expected.  It took a long time to get the buffalo wings I ordered at extreme prices and when I did get them, they were "fair" in taste.  Because it took room service a bit of time to deliver them, they were lukewarm in temperature. I wasn't necessarily disappointed, but I wasn't pleased either.

HOUSEKEEPING - It would take me a day to review housekeeping.  I'll just keep it short and say that I wish they had more housekeeping staff that spoke English and didn't give you an attitude when you ask them questions.  Needless to say, they did not get any tips from me.

DECOR/SHOPS -- The look and the feel of the hotel is very warm.  I didn't feel like I was in Detroit at all.  I did see 1 or 2 shops on site but I did not shop in them so I cannot give a fair review of them.

RESTAURANT -- Dema is the hotel's on-site restaurant. The food is fair/good but the prices are ludicrous.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to stay an extra day at this hotel.  The manager on staff was so willing to accommodate me that he did not charge me a full day's rate.  He only charged me an additional $35 and did not charge me for any incidentals/parking fees that my traveling partner racked up before she left (which were on my credit card).  I was so thankful that I recommended this hotel to all my family and friends (and still continue to do so).  Whenever I am in Detroit to visit family or to attend one of many awesome Jazz concerts they have, I will always stay at the Westin Detroit Metro Airport.

PROS:
The convenience of booking discounted rates directly on the hotel's website.
Special offers for those on the hotel's e-mail list.
The convenience of the location of the hotel directly within DTW.
Management willing to accommodate guests needs and extremely helpful.
Convenience of checking in and printing boarding passes for Northwest Airline flights at the hotel.

CONS:
The lack of English-speaking help staff.
Valet parking prices are ridiculous for guests.
Valet took 30 - 45 minutes retrieving our rental car.
