The Westin Detroit is a great hotel - clean, comfortable and affordable. If you are planning to fly out of or into Detroit or have to stay in Detroit for business, I would HIGHLY recommend the Westin Detroit Metro Aiprot. If you are planning to stay awhile and take in the sites of Detroit - yes, there are some - I would probably recommend staying else where.
The Westin Detroit is like Westin on steroids. It's really the best Westin I've ever stayed at. Unlike some Westins that have basically just thrown down a white comforter and cleaned up the decor a bit, the Westin Detroit is new, clean, modern and really delivers on the recently contemporarized vision of Westin. Each of the rooms provide guests with the heavenly bed and heavenly bath. There's a small gym and a small pool available for guest use. Another interesting feature is the various packages that guests can chose. For example, the 'workout' package features an in-room tread mill, pilates kit and dvd/cd player.
The Dema bar and restaurant offer 'Asian-flared' food, which fits in nicely with the lobby decor (think trees and lots of stones). The Dema bar, while not the most happening place in the world, is a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a few cocktails.
I've never paid over $100 for a room here - all due to the undersirable location. However, if in Detroit on business or to catch a flight, I would definitely recommend the Westin Detroit Metro Airport.
