First of all....I LOVE to read. It's one of my favorite hobbies. I'm not able to do it as often as I'd like being a mother of a near two-year-old. And sometimes I'm also a little afraid to read, to get too into the story because I've been known to become obsessed with a book or a series of books. I won't sleep. I won't eat. And it's the only thing on my mind. It's all I can think about! I dream about it. It's a little scary, actually! And sometimes, I'll fall so in love with the story, with the characters that when the story ends I feel like I've lost my best friends and I mope around the house for a week and I feel sad for awhile. These books were like that for me...almost more than that.

I know, I know...I'm not really the demographic. I'm not a "young adult". I'm not a young girl obsessed with soppy romance novels. But remember...Harry Potter was originally geared towards younger readers as well and look at all the people obsessed with him! Now, I'm not saying these books will have the amount of appeal to as many people as Harry Potter...but I was much more obsessed with this series than the Harry Potter series. I'm not sure why. I loved Harry Potter. But there's just something about these books...the characters are fantastic. It's not your typical vampire story. It's something more...much more.

For one thing, they are NOT soppy romance novels. The love in these books is amazing and heartfelt. The characters are beautiful and more real than some people I know. At first, the plot seems a little...predictable. Until you get to Breaking Dawn. Breaking Dawn is my favorite out of the series because it's the one I feel I most relate to. My least favorite is New Moon - not because it's not a good read but because it's so heart achingly sad. I cried several times...I could actually feel Bella's heart breaking.

And the books are so addictive! I highly suggest you buy them ALL before you even start because as soon as you finish one, you will NEED the next one or you'll go crazy. I actually stayed up until 5 am one night just because I couldn't stop reading!

I highly reccommend these books to anyone who loves the romantic side of vampires. If you're into blood and guts, this isn't that kind of story. I've never read a vampire story like these. In fact, I wouldn't even call them vampire stories...vampires are a very central component of course, but this is more a love story than anything else. It will almost make you sad that vampires like these don't exist.

*****SPOILER ALERT!***** Don't read further if you don't want the story to be spoiled.

My only complaint is that there are certain small aspects that remind me of Anne Rice's vampire books. Unless you've read Anne Rice several million times (also VERY good books) you won't notice. But if you love Anne Rice like I do, you'll probably see certain similarities...makes me wonder is Stephanie Meyer was influenced by Anne or she thought she invented these things herself? There are also certain things about the vampires and wolves that annoy me a little. I also really wish she'd write a couple more. I love Bella, Edward, Renesme, Alice, and Jacob so much that I really need at least a couple more books to properly say goodbye. And I really want to know what Renesme is like when she's grown. And if the Volturi become overthrown or if they just stop butting into people's business. And if Edward, Bella, and the rest ever die either by the Volturi's hands or by someone else's. *Sigh*. If you can't tell, I'm still in that "sad goodbye" phase that I just can't seem to shake...does anyone else ever have this problem? I'd feel much better if I weren't the only one!
