I thoroughly enjoyed "The Time Traveler's Wife" because it was such an unconventional twist to a traditional love story.  The book follows the life span of both the Time Traveler (Henry) and his wife (Clare)...as he goes back and forth in time, while she stays grounded to the present world.  The two are able to meet a happy medium only at the mid-point of their lives, but their time together as a socially acceptable couple is short-lived at best.  The book explores the disadvantages, for example, of being a young girl hanging around with a much older man.  Because Henry has a condition which is triggered through stress, he never knows where or when he will disappear, let alone where or what year he will show up in.  He does, however, know some of Claire's future because of his travels and that makes for tension between the couple as Claire wants to know what the future holds for her, while Henry feels conflicted about revealing too much.

The book is a poignant, touching story which I found difficult to put down.  I wanted to find out how the story would conclude, even though I knew it would be bittersweet.  This is the debut novel by Audrey Niffenegger, and I would highly recommend it to others.
