Its based on the book by Williams & Shelly Berger about a black quintet singers named Otis Williams (Charles Malik Whitfield), Melvin Franklin (D.B. Woodside), Eddie Kendricks (Terron Brooks), Paul Williams (Christian Payton), & David Ruffin (Leon) make a band called the Temptations. I first saw this movie when I was nine years old and I fell in love with it. It lead me to read the book also and get all the CD's so I could no more and more about the Temptations. It was a excellent movie. All the catchy songs and dance moves were a plus. It also had some sad parts such as, the death of the group...

The Temptations is a made for tv biography about the great Motown musical act, out of my hometown, Detroit. It debuted back in 1998 and over the years I've watched it no less than a thousand times. It has great acting, great musical numbers and a few tear jerking moments. Even if you're not a huge fan of The Temptations (like I was before seeing this movie) you and your whole family will enjoy this movie.
