Fantastic read! Koontz strikes again. Its a mere understatement saying that it is a 'page turner', once you start it, it is near impossible to put down. So many "Apocolyptic' books and films are huge let downs, mostly with the crescendo's being the culprit of the downfall, whether being 'too far fetched', 'too heart warming' ot 'too 'nice' an ending or the opposite 'too morbid', rarely if at all does a Apocolyptic book/film hit a happy medium of a plausible ending that doesn't insult the reader/viewer, and leave them feeling empty. Koontz gets it just right here, while your imagination runs riot...

I am a big fan of Dean Koontz since reading The Watcher. Being an owner and lover of a Golden Retriever, Dean Koontz holds a special place with me. He owns one too, and includes them in several of his books. I just finished The Taking. A griping page turner. Some of the reviews in front of the book compare it to War of the Worlds. Pretty good comparison. I wanted to read the end of the book so badly - before finishing it. I couldn't imagine how it would end. The ending is the best. The thoughts that go through the main character's mind is amazing. If you love science fiction and "page turners",... review »

Original, Disturbing, and Wonderful- Classic Koontz

I have been a long time Koontz fan, have every book that he has ever written, and The Taking is one of my favorites. Dean never fails to write about subjects that are thought provoking,sometimes disturbing, and always touching. This particular novel is all of these and more.
