The Slimfast Diet —

I have done the Slimfast weight loss diet several times in my life.  I believe the total pounds that I've lost has been about ten.  And that's all my weight loss attempts combined over the past twenty years.

Slimfast has vastly improved over the years.  Remember when it was just powder that you mixed with skim milk?  Well, know the Slimfast shakes come in delicious flavors that are premixed for your convenience.  And it REALLY does make it easier to stay on the diet.  Just pull one out of the fridge and drink.  They honestly DO fill you up and help with hunger.  But they don't make you lose weight.

The reason that I believe I don't lose weight from the Slimfast diet is the sugar content.  But then again, THAT is what makes them taste so good!  One can of Slimfast Optima contains 18 grams of sugar.  That's not extreme, but it's enough to hold back weight loss.  And one can contains 190 Calories, 6g of fat, 25g carbs, 200mg of sodium, 2.5g of saturated fat, etc.  In other words, for a beverage....it's really not THAT low fat.  I have found that I'm better off eating an apple and some yogurt.  But the Slimfast does taste better.

The flavors are all very good, and Slimfast just keeps pumping out new ones too.  Between all the different varieties of Slimfast, i.e; Optima, Original, Easy To Digest, Protein Rich, etc. the flavors include: Rich Chocolate Royale, Creamy Milk Chocolate, French Vanilla, Strawberries & Cream, Cappuccino Delight, Coffee, and Vanilla Cream.  And they really do taste great.  I like to put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes.  They come out like a shake.

If you want to try the Slimfast diet, buy the shakes IN BULK.  Don't buy one can each day because they are ridiculously expensive that way.  But six or twelve cans at a time (they come packaged that way).  They make an easy lunch, and are more or less guilt free.

If  you are looking for a convenient meal, then I would recommend this product.  But I really can't recommend it as an effective weight loss program.

My question is did you follow the whole slimfast plan? Slimfast is only an aid to your diet. You are still suppose to work out a half hour or so a day and drink 8 glasses of water. Yes slimfast is high in terms of grams of sugar but weight loss is just about burning more calories then you eat. If you follow the plan there is no way it shouldnt work. I have followed the plan for 3 weeks and lost about 13 pounds so far.

I've also been on a flight with Mr Clapton, what a nice guy. He took a photo with me and my son. Sorry to hear you have farting problems. The wife drinks the stuff and drops the odd screamer after drinking it. She smells to!

I lost weight very quickly on it. You must have been pigging out on chips and salsa if you couldn't lose weight on it. Take off your feed bag and try it again. don't worry about the farting. I work in a book store and I just fart and fart and fart. Never smells though. If your bored you could try farting into the used can and then putting it under your work mates nose, say, "does this smell off to you?". Just great for a laugh!

Seriously though, the stuff will make your fart like a trumpet player. I fly a lot and it's a little challenging. I sat beside Eric Clapton on a flight to Ohio (that was cool) but I must have farted 25 to 50 times. I had a Chocolate shake and ate some Tums so it might have been worse than normal. Anyway, farted all over Clapton and he never complained once. I did one fart that sounded like the intro to layla, I caught him tapping his foot to it.
I ended the flight by saying thanks for all the music, he smiled and said your welcome, I farted really loudly as he said that. Anyway, aside from the farting, this stuff works wonders.

Fart on my friends, fart on.

In the late 90s I was using the mix as a nutritional beverage alternative. I wasn't trying to lose weight but I was trying to add nutrients to my milk. Then when I got diagnosed with bone cancer in 2002 my dr. said to quit drinking it b/c research showed that some of the ingredients were linked to carcingonics that were cancer producing agents. I haven't touched it since!! See, I do listen to my doctors ;+)

The only way Slim-Fast ever worked for me as a weight-loss thing was to use them as meal substitutes for breakfast and lunch. I haven't done that for awhile but I remember that when I followed the plan when I was working at the bank years ago, I would get quite hungry by the end of the day.

I don't like the shakes but do like the bars. I will eat a meal replacement bar in the morning and am full for hours. I don't eat them for weight loss, just because I'm lazy and they have all the vitamins I need. The sugar IS high though.
