The Simpsons Movie Review Summary

The Simpsons Movie is a "worthy tribute to a legendary series." Yet, while many reviewers find this film to be everything they were expecting from the Fox series and more, some feel that the Simpsons wore out their welcome long ago. Every character to ever grace the town of Springfield makes their way into The Simpsons Movie for at least a cameo. The "Spider-Pig" bit is thought to be the funniest part of the film that prides itself on crossing the line, similar to South Park - Bigger, Longer & Uncut. And While The Simpsons Movie is able to "take its humor to a whole new Rated R level," that level makes the cartoon inappropriate for young kids. However, reviewers disagree on what age is appropriate to view this film.

If you've watched as many movies as I have over the years, you've probably noticed that, in the never-ending search for movie ideas, Hollywood almost literally leaves no stone unturned.

Ever since the invention of the motion picture camera in the late 19th Century, screenwriters have always had a tendency...

Hitting theatres before it begins it's 19th season on Fox, and probably about a decade too late for most fans' tastes, The Simpsons Movie is nevertheless one of the more surprising success stories of the 2007 summer box office movie season.

As most diehard Simpsons fans know, the show has been almost...

After 18 years on the tube, The Simpsons finally got their own movie. It was all that and a case of Duff. The fan boys were worried that,

A. The Simpsons' time had passed and,
B. the film would not live up to expectations and hype.

Their fears were groundless. Sure, there were some grumblings that Homer and his clan aren't as good as they were in 1989, when the series debuted. To those people I say, I'm pretty sure your wives and girlfriends think YOU aren't as good as you were ONE year ago, yet, they stay with you, hoping you will revist your glory days one more time.

That's just happened here....

I will just admit, I have never gotten into the Simpsons.  I know people love it and think it is the greatest show ever.  Some how I am just not the right combination of deep and shallow that it has ever stuck with me.  That said, I read a New York Times Review of The Simpsons movie and it had very good things to say about the show and the movie so I thought I would try it out.

On a cloudy day in Chicago, why not takes the kids to the movies?

Well I am here to tell you that there were several times during The Simpsons Movie that I regretted having chosen this particular movie to see with...

I was very disappointed with The Simpsons movie, and I certainly didn't think kids needed to see two same sex cops kissing.  What was that about?
Oh well, maybe they'll get it right with part II.

I catch an episode of the Simpson here and there or re-runs, but I am not exactly a fan.  The show is usually entertaining though and I have no problem watching it and even occasionally giggle, but if it wasn't for my kids I probably wouldn't have got to see the movie, but son wouldn't stop asking to see it, so finally I gave in.

The Plot

The lake in Springfield has become extremely polluted, so polluted in fact that it is beginning to affect the town of Springfield environmentally and eventually personally for the residents. Lisa Simpson takes this pretty seriously and eventually with the help...

I Just finished watching the Simpson movie last night!  My husband and I are members of the blockbuster rental program.  We absolutely enjoy our movies and prefer the cozy undestracted atmosphere at home for our movie viewing.

I consider the "Simpon Movie" a funny one! Although-  I am not a super religious person.. There was a part in the movie where Marge said.. God Dxxx!  I do feel this should not be viewed without parental supervision. I also feel parental supervision in children 13 and under is needed because of sexual content is also present when Homer dares Bart to skate board naked...

Man this is the best movie ever!!! The have to do the sequel as Maggie says at the end because if they don't,people are going to be mad. I this movie you see every character doing something but the specialty is the father-son connection. Bart's nudity scene is funny as it can be. This movie is so great that you have to see the credits at the end because they still give you jokes there, very good jokes. I started walking but stayed at the cinema stairs and I stood up there just enjoying those credits hearing Homer. It's the greatest movie ever, no funny programs nor movies will top that, just themselves.... review »

I THOUGHT THE SIMPSON NEW MOVIE WAS A GREAT PLOT. THEY TOOK ALL THE CHARCTER OF THE SIMSON FAMILY AND STRETCH THEM TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. FROM LISA FINDING LOVE, TO BART FINDING A NEW PATH OF LOVE TO FOLLOW  AND THEN FINDING OUT ALL HE WAS SEACHING FOR WAS RIGHT THERE ALL ALONG. TO MARG HOLDING ON TO HER PRINCIPALS NO MATTER WHAT. EVEN HOMER LEARNING A TRUE SENCE OF HUMILITY. THE MOVIE WAS EVERFLOWING FOM SCENE TO FUNNY SCENE.(ESPECIALLY LIKE THE SCENE WITH HOMER USING A CRICKET CELL PHONE, A DEFINATE FUNNY MUST GO SEE MOVIE FOR THE KIDS; AS WELL AS ADULTS. SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY. I FOUND NOTHING... review »

Going into it I thought it was going to be just a 2 hour tv show, few quick giggles and credits. This thing had me crying I was laughing so hard at some scenes! The Bart on the skateboard was hilarious!!!

I think every character that has ever been on The Simpsons got at least a second of airtime. It was funny that I could look at that character, who was probably on the show a decade ago, and recall the episode.

Stayed thru the credits, kind of expecting something funny to happen, but nothing there. :(

All in all a great movie! Can't wait for the DVD to come out! I bet the extras are great!

Where do I begin? I loved it! Absolutely loved it!

I must admit after seeing the trailers for the movie a thousand times, I was not looking forward to seeing this movie. However, my family rented it and I figured "why not".

Upon viewing it for the first time I was such a fan of the plot, I watched it again. I watched it 3 times in one night!  I love the one liners and the creative plot. They touch on a vital issue of environmental safety... but do it the "Simpson's" way!

 Long Live THE SIMPSONS! :o)

If you are a Simpson's fan; The Simpson's Movie will not disappoint.  On the big screen, the show was able to take its' humor to a whole new Rated R level.  This was good news for adults and older teens.  However, you may want to think twice before you share this adventure with anyone younger.  The content make provoke some "birds and the bees" discussions you weren't prepared to have yet.
