Excellent story of a dry drunk Jack Torrence, whos last chance job is at a remote hotel in the Colorado mountains in the dead of winter. Let me emphasize the word DEAD. So this dry drunk is a writer and he has a wife and son,Danny. What the writer doesnt know is that his son Danny is a Psychic Power Station and the Outlook hotel is the perfect OUTLET. No sooner than they get to the hotel the head chef tells Danny that he has the Shining, The capeability to see and hear and know things that others cant.  He gives Danny a warning to not believe what he sees and that the ghosts cant harm him....famous... review »

I FIRST SAW THE  MOVIE "THE SHINING" WAS SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND I WAS

SCARED OUT OF MY MIND. JACK NICHOLSON PLAYED THAT PART SO GOOD AND SO

CONVINCING THAT I WAS AN INSTANT NICHOLSON FAN.  HE ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED

ME JUST THE WAY HE LOOKED.  WATCHING THAT MOVIE MADE ME LOVE HORROR

MOVIES OF ANY KIND.  THE LITTLE BOY AND THE MOTHER IN THE MOVIE WERE

SO GOOD YOU WOULD'VE THOUGHT THAT ALL THESE THINGS WERE REALLY

HAPPENING TO THEM. I LOVE TO READ BOOKS AND I ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK

LONG BEFORE I SAW THE MOVIE AND I THOUGHT THE MOVIE WAS A LOT BETTER

THAN THE BOOK. I RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE THAT LIKES...

Stephen King's The Shining is a book that can give a reader goosebumps on more than one occasion with how graphically horrifying this book is. I happen to love Stephen King novels and compilations, and in my opinion this is one of his best works. I don't understand how he does it, but his descriptions had my mind going a million miles a minute! It's no surprise that I was engrossed in the story, but there were a few times in the dead of the night that I had to put the book down and go to sleep because I was scared and needed a break for my imagination. What a ride this book took me on! I would...

I know, here I am reviewing a book while everyone has seen the movie. See here's the thing the book is always better. I know you hear that alot but it is especially true with anything written by Stephen  king. If you are a "Constant Reader" as king calls us you will know that all of his books interconnect, Okay back on topic The Shining I had to close the book and I couldn't read it at night.I had nightmares of that freaky maze those topiaries. the scariest things i could imagine. you have got to read this book. the movie just doesnt do it justice. There has not been an author that could pull...

The Shining by Stephen King is one of his best works. Not only does he make you feel lonesome, he also makes you believe in the ghostly spirits that dwell in the Overlook Hotel. I could not tell which was worse, the solitude of the snow piling up at the doors and windows,  the growing insanity of Jack or the mind numbing fear of little Danny and his Mom, Wendy. My Grand-daughter wants her and her best friend to dress up like "the ghost twins" this Halloween, I thought it was a really good idea. If you enjoy a good ghost story...... read The Shining.

The Shining was a great book as all of Stephen Kings books are. It was suspenseful, hard to put down, and very interesting. I like Stephen Kings books and probably have them all as they come out. I also like true crime. Great as usual!!
