Most HelpfulOkay, so you will understand the first part of this review you will need to read or re-read my review on The Abduction. In the Abuction the author recapped a long string of coincidences and then he said something to the fact that they weren't in fact coincidences but rather part of God's plan. I...

Most HelpfulBeware! When reading The Shack from a "Biblical" perspective, you will see that while it may seem like good fiction with great endorsements, it is full of heresy and inaccurate depictions of God.
Check out these step by step Biblical analysis of the statements throughout the book:

The Shack is a book that uses fiction to tell the reader about the love of God. This book gives us a view of a loving God that has long been absent in our churches. Mack, the central character is struggling with the tragic lost of his beloved little girl Missy. The book pokes holes in our stereotypical view of God. It brings the Triune God to life in a whimsical way that will touch your heart to it's depths. There are chapters that will make you laugh and others where you will shed some tears. I have never read a book of fiction that rings so true that it must be truly inspired...
review »The Shack was a wonderful book! I purchased it on a whim and berated myself all the way home from the store for wasting money.
I wasn't going to read it because it just had one of those covers that did not attract me. But I packed quickly for a flight and it was the only thing out and ready to act as a light weight carry on item. With my first layover being extended for the usual reasons, I began to read.
The Shack was impossible to put down. I found myself reading just one more page, one more chapter, one more ... until the book was finished before the day was out.
It had everything that...

The new book on the market, The Shack, leaves the reader processing the ideas and experiences proclaimed in the story for days after finishing it. It is about a father who takes his three children on a weekend camping trip that was memorably wonderful until just before packing the car to leave. A terrible tragedy occurs that changes the life of the family as they once knew it.
The story touches the very core of a persons' existence after being affected by such a tragedy. It provokes the gut wrenching questions that a person needs answered in order to have some kind of peace...
review »The Shack is a book that is hard to put down once you have started it! For a lot of people, this can be a "deep" book, but if you just let your mind be free of everything and take it all in, you will be engrossed in a matter of no time. The author has a great way to see thru the bad in people and forgive them in a special way. He also helps you to see what lies beyond death. As a Christian, this book gave me a picture of Heaven and how God forgives and moves on. Anyone that has been thru a tragic experience in life should read this book. You will be touched in a special way. I laughted and got...
review »I was able to get a copy of this book at the library and the book is good; but there was some things I couldn't wrap my mind around and be convicted on it completely. Plus I was like HOW could someone want to abuse, harm or kill an innocent child? that isn't right no matter how you slice it. I was feeling the idea of God being an African American matronly woman; The Holy Spirit just flitting around. I like to feel that when I see them, that I will see them the way I had figured them to be. just a thought; But the book is interesting. I feel that the trip was exactly what Mac needed; He needed peace...
review »The Shack by William P. Young
I don't usually read books where the main subject is religion, but I had this book recommended to me by more than a few people. I heard lots of good things about it.
It is about a man named Mack, who is on a camping trip with his children in the wilderness of Oregon, when his young daughter Missy is abducted by a serial killer. Four years later, Mack is understandably still grieving, and struggling with his faith in God. Then one wintry day, he finds a note from God in his mailbox, inviting him to the Shack, where the evidence of the crime had been found 4 years earlier....
"The Shack" is an absolutely great read. I read it in one night - it was so interesting and compelling. I never knew where this story would go next or what character would come into play. The details were great, the feelings and thoughts of the main character were well written. This story was so unique. Questions we all have at different times of our life are answered in such a way as to leave you feeling hopeful, full of wonder, belief and joy. Some of the major ideas were so awesome I had to read them two or three times. I have recommended this book to everyone I know that enjoys...
review »The Shack by William P. Young reads like no other book, and is a definite page turner. The creativity and imagination that Young uses to tell this story of grace is unique. Many times I had to stop and reread the pages as something would just hit me as it was "so true", and other situations made you realize they would have to be faced at some point. Mainly we don’t have the courage or strength to face them at the time, but sooner or later we usually do. The Shack is one book I know I will read again and again as I know it will not be the same as the first time. The first time it was so enlightening...
review »what do you do when you're in the woods camping with your children and you take your eye off one child to rescue your other 2 children, and the child you left behind disappears? How does that affect your faith? What then if God came to you and told you everything was okay, that your daughter was with Him now? Follow the journey of a man tortured with guilt as he finds God again and can finally bury the daughter he lost. The Shack has a unique perspective of the Holy Trinity that will have you mesmerized until the very end.
The Shack is a real page-turner. I like to read in bed at night & often would get "upset" when I would fall asleep at a "good part". Very thought provoking. Really makes you examing your thoughts about life, God & how you currently think about the two. The ending is very surprising compared to how the 2nd to last chapter ends. I didn't want the book to end. I wanted to know more.
This is a story of a family that goes through a great loss. He comes in contact with a higher power that reveals to him his innermost fears and feelings. He has to come to grips with his past and move forward. This book teaches the healing powers of forgiveness. It is a very touching book that should be read by all.
