The Secret Life of Bees Review

The movie, "The Secret Life of Bees" did not receive a good review in our local paper.  I always read the reviews so that I have a starting point on assessing the movie. I usually do not let their opinions determine whether I watch the movie or not.  I like this movie.  It was about women helping women.  It was about family and the realities of life.  There were some sad moments but they were portrayed in a manner that could be viewed by anyone.  Some pictures are too graphic and are hard to watch.  With this picture, you got the point without all the graphics.  The acting was good.  All of the characters gave good performances.  The movie gave a realistic view of the times in that era. It showed how strong women had to be in order to survive.  Even with the strength of the women, the compassion and gentleness was still there.  It is a good movie for the family to see.  People sometimes forget have far some people have come especially different races and females. In some parts of the movie, it might not be appropriate for young children.
