The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn —

Wow, this was one of the best reads! I love historical fiction that is not just accurate in its depiction of the past, but you really feel like you were placed in the era with all the sights, smells, and the way of life.

This book was very well-written and the history was excellently researched. I still don't feel sorry for Anne Boleyn, perhaps sorry that she lost her life the way she did, but not sorry for the choice she made. I did come to understand her more and wonder if the real Anne really went through all of those emotions. I also recommen "Mary, Bloody Mary" which is a similarly written book but from the point of view of young Princess Mary during the time her father left her mother for Anne. You can find my book review for that one here as well.

Hello, thanks for your comment. I don't feel sorry for her regarding the choice she made to become King Henry's lover and tear up his marriage and family. She virtually stole the crown from his wife and had so much hatred for Queen Catherine and her daughter Mary. But, then she was very young and ambitious, also, who knows if she had a choice but to accept the King's advances. I guess my opinions are based on the history I have read, but she has never been painted in a good light.

Interesting review. I'm curious, why don't you feel sorry for Anne Boleyn ? and which choice? What was your favorite part of the book? I have read a lot about her but not this book. I know it's fiction but I think I'll get copy from the library.
