I read The Road before Oprah picked for her book club and was frankly a little surprised that she did. I loved it, but it isn't the type of book I would have thought Oprah would go for. The Road tells the story of an unnamed man and his son traveling through the world after it has been decimated by war or some apocolyptic event. The story is a little tough to get into, but once you do, you'll finish the book quickly. The author makes you pull for this pair in the horrible world they live in, and in spite of the wasteland they live in, you really can see some hope and optimism through the eyes of the boy. I would recommend this book to anyone.
