not watching many old movies, a movie lover

After seeing the Producers on Broadway, I was anxious to see the original Mel Brooks movie. Now that I've watched it a couple of times, I can say that I like it in the way that it is a "classic" and not necessarily as funny today as it probably was back in the 1960s.

Plot
Just like the musical and the recent movie, the plot revolves around Max, a Broadway producer whose plays are starting to go down the toilet. He hires Leo, an accountant, to do his papers for his latest flop and Leo inadvertently finds that under the right circumstances Max could make more money with a flop than with a hit!

Wilder, Mostel, Funny  Greatest Films #50

Mel Brooks' first feature length film was outrageous, loud, in your face and very funny.  It's on my top 50 of all time list not because it's a great work of art, (comedy is tough, not pretty and perhaps not purely ART  but I don't care).  It's on my list because it's a film I've watched over and over and over again and STILL find it clever, rude, funny and no one can top Mostel and Wilder who  were zapped by some comic genie to give some of their funniest moments on film EVER -I'll credit Mel Brooks for making it happen.


The Producers  still remains...
