The Ove Glove Hot Surface Handler Review Summary

Every home kitchen should come standard with an Ove Glove or a set of Ove Gloves. Kitchen gear reviewers say that Ove gloves fits much better than standard oven mitts. The wonder kitchen gloves also work better, since they’re designed to withstand really high heat. On top of the safety features, an Ove Glove can be tossed in the washing machine and comes out like new. The Ove Glove is more expensive than an oven mitt, but buyers get what they pay for with this great kitchen gear item.

As many of you know, the kitchen, for all its charms, is also one of the most dangerous places in the house, and every year thousands of people are admitted to emergency rooms due to kitchen-related mishaps. With a plethora of sharp cooking utensils -- knives, cleavers, forks -- and breakable dishes...

In my opinion you might as well go buy a cheap oven mitt. It doesn't do any better (or worse, to be fair) than a regular ol' oven mitt. Save your money. Plus oven mitts are cuter. They come in more designs and colors. That's really all I have to say but I can't publish this unless I type more. So...yeah,... read full review »

I have never had much luck with regular oven mitts.  They are so thick and bulky that I can't quite get a good grip on the pan that I am trying to take out of the oven.  I have actually dropped a few pans using oven mitts because of the bulkiness.  A friend recommended the The Ove Glove Hot Surface Handler so I took a chance and purchased one for $17.99. I love it!

The Ove Glove

According to the manufacturer, the Ove Glove can withstand temperatures up to 540 degrees, and does not catch fire or melt.  It is made from Dupont Nomex and DuPont Kevlar and will protect you from any temperature...

My husband bought me the gloves 2 years ago, for Christmas.  I used them plenty after hot mitts, gloves and anything else we bought were not good enough to hold a pot out of the oven.  My fingers deserved better!

But I was noticing the longer I held something the hotter it was getting, just like the mitts.  So I emailed the company & got a phone call from the owner an hour later.  I no longer had the box but he asked for color, if they had blue sticky material on the palms, and we determined I had the first edition gloves.  He sent me new ones via Fed Ex overnight.  That is a company who...

After experiencing the pain of fire, the OVE GLOVE has come to the rescue. We are a grilling crazy family and inevitably there is a time  when the 'ol kitchen mit just does not cut it. We have removed flaming chickens from the grill, leveled mounds of red hot charcoal and grabbed the proverbial "hot roasting pan" with no telltale burns or even the "ah chi wah wah dance".  It has become the family staple ( even for the macho son-in-laws). Buy one!!

I work in a restaurant & burnt myself frequently until I found these...TADA the OVE GLOVE. I feel that they fit my hands very well & that I can hold hot pans better & longer. I do not fear dropping my dishes because the gloves are not over-sized like MICKEY MOUSE gloves. I love how easy they are to clean & they last forever.I have given several as gifts to the grand-parents & they love them.

OK-so I got one of these from my mom for Christmas.  I am notorious for grabbing a dishtowel for all my pots and pans, never a potholder in sight.  The Ove Glove gets caught on my rings, it snags constantly on them.  I don't think it blocks the heat any better than most potholders or, yes, dishtowels.  It has a deceivingly thick feel which makes you think the handle will not be hot, but indeed it is and yes, you can feel it through the glove.  I don't think it is a bad product, just don't think you can use it as blindly as it would imply.  I still think it's easier to grab a dishtowel.

My husband got this product for Christmas last year and upon the very first use burned his hand because it didn't block the heat! I have used it myself and found the same results. I was very disappointed. Now we have a rather expensive glove that basically is used to unscrew the tops off of jars- that seems to be the only thing it is good for. I wouldn't suggest anyone trying to use this glove for gripping hot pots or pans because you will be in danger of a burn or of dropping a pot of hot food- and that is probably the most danger to pets and children! Be careful!!

I have to admit my husband has taken over most of the cooking and never paid much attention to the ads for the gloves. I had a chance to try one at my aunt's and was sold! I used to have problems with pot holders slipping and getting burned, or an oven  mitt getting wet making it unuseable. They may be pricey compared to the $1 oven mitts out there, but a glove will last longer and prevent more burns. This is a must for people just getting out on their own.

I must say, I recieved this product as a gift and was very excited when I first started using it...then I burned myself. I really like the shape and feel, because it fits well and allows for a better grip, however I feel the heat resistence is the same as any other oven mitt or pot holder. The appearance is not very pleasing to the eye and it's almost near impossible to get stains out of it.

I would reccomend these kitchen gloves to anyone who bakes a lot. I guess I'm just a klutz but I was always burning my self putting things into the oven or taking them out. Other mitts I had tried either were worthless with a few used from the burns on them or just were not heavy enough. I have not burned myself a single time since I bought two of these. They wash well also.

The Oveglove is the best  oven mitt one could ever own. I have one of the "old" models without the grip strips. I can pick up glassware, pans, anything that has been in the oven. need to move the rack and forgot before you turned on the oven? No problem with the Oveglove. I have asked Santa for one for Christmas, can't wait.

bought for a family member. they liked it, but I didn't see how it would be better than just a regular oven mitt. I could see how some said that it stuck on their jewelry.  Maybe they could make it a bit bigger or have a selection of sizes.  I bought it on sale, and would probably not have purchased it at it's regular price.

I really like the Ove Gloves to use for removing very large pots or cassarole dishes from the oven.  Regular oven mitts don't give you as good as a grip on large hot items as the Ove Gloves do.  I have even used them to move logs in the fire place.  I store them in a drawer as they are ugly.
