The Ove Glove Hot Surface Handler —

I have never had much luck with regular oven mitts.  They are so thick and bulky that I can't quite get a good grip on the pan that I am trying to take out of the oven.  I have actually dropped a few pans using oven mitts because of the bulkiness.  A friend recommended the The Ove Glove Hot Surface Handler so I took a chance and purchased one for $17.99. I love it!

The Ove Glove

According to the manufacturer, the Ove Glove can withstand temperatures up to 540 degrees, and does not catch fire or melt.  It is made from Dupont Nomex and DuPont Kevlar and will protect you from any temperature that is going to be found in the residential kitchen. The Ove Glove fits either hand and if you decide to buy it, make sure you buy a set, as they are sold individually.

My Experience

I was hesitant to pay $17.99 for one Ove Glove but my friend gave it such a glowing review that I decided to go for it.  The Ove Glove works very well.  The flexibility that this product gives me and the fact that it has a non-slip silicone grip sets it apart from traditional oven mitts.  The most important difference and the part that is worth paying so much more for is that it can handle temperatures up to 540 degrees.  Not only have I been able to remove hot baking pans and casserole dishes without getting burned but, I have also used it to change scorching light bulbs with barely feeling any heat.  The tips of my fingers have felt some extra warmth for some reason.  I'm not quite sure why the tips of the fingers are less resistant so, just be careful not to use the tips of your fingers too much when removing hot pans.  Lastly, the Ove Glove is washing machine safe which makes the little glove even more convenient.

Final Thoughts

The Ove Glove, although pricey, works very well and is worth the money spent.  I am considering buying a second one for when I am removing larger pans and casserole dishes.  I recommend this product and am giving it a 5 star rating.

You are right on the money! This is one of those items where you could easily find a cheaper 'mitt' version, but here, you DO get what you pay for. FIVE STARS!!

GREAT product! I love the dexterity you can't get with any other kind of oven "mitt". I bought two right away. You DO have to be careful that your hands are dry when you use them...the moisture conducts the heat rapidly.
