In the age of reality TV shows, it's about time we have a reality TV spoof. The Office is called a mockumentary since they make it appear like a reality show, but in truth none of it is real. To the passer by it may seem like a lame show, but once you get to know a few of the characters, you'll really enjoy it.
The Premise
Steve Carell (Michael) leads this hilarious cast of "normal" people through their "normal" office jobs. I say "normal" in quotes because although much of the scenario is very much like a real office job, much of it is just plain zany. This is a lot like Steve Carell's...
This show is so funny that I actually watch the reruns on TBS. I have the first two seasons on my I-pod and watch them when I travel for work. I laugh so loud on the airplanes that I get stares. The writing is incredible, the characters hilarious. Having them sell paper is inspired, an unsexy product in an industry that does not favor the independent vendor just makes the intensity of their devotion to work another quirky element of the show. This show works on so many levels that it is always fun to watch.
"The Office" is a refreshing comedy that leaves you wondering how the writers come up with this knee slapping material! Even if you do not work in an office setting you can still enjoy the situations that these paper sales people get themselves into. You laugh when they make fun of themselves, choke up when things get seriuos, and cringe when the politically incorrect gaffs or inappropriate behavior unfolds before you in the most awkward of situations.
Part of what makes "The Office" so enjoyable are all the different characters. They are such a perfect sampling of personalities, over the course...
review »I was hooked from the first episode I saw and have now seen every episode of it. It is the Greatest show on television by far! How 30 Rock keeps winning all the awards, I'll never know!
Working at Dunder Mifflin would be awesome, having a boss who clowns around, holds ridiculous meetings, and yet has the most productive branch. How does he do it?
With the Michael as the forever dumb boss who thinks he's the best, Dwight the weird number 2 and many other characters makes it a great comedy show. I like how it's so quiet and paced. The talking heads by the characters gives us a inside into what they...
review »The characters are relatable and it is a “smart” and “dense” comedy all at the same time. While it may not appeal to everyone, it is a very well thought out comedy (though I will admit it has slipped recently into more of an “obvious” humor…but I think that is only because they want to increase their viewers, which I am fine with--the more people that like it the longer it will hang around!) That’s what she said.
Now that is in re-runs because of the strike and the holiday seasons, it is a great time to catch-up and really get into The Office.
