The Name of the Wind —

I throughly enjoyed this book. I had heard a lot about it, but I am hesitant to buy fantasy novels, as sometimes the premise seems good, but then once it starts it is just the same as all the rest of the mundane fantasy novels floating around. The Name of the Wind has great characters, uses a different system of magic than a lot of fantasy books, and leaves the reader wanting to know what happens next.

As a library staff member, I am often asked to recommend books for people. The Name of the Wind is a book that I can recommend without hesitation to readers who like epic fantasy that is a bit different, or who like a big book that isn't over too quickly! The only downside to this novel is that I have no idea when the next in the series is coming out, or how many the author intends to write. I will be looking forward to the next one!

Thanks! You just made up my mind for me. I'm looking around for a book to take on vacation with me (I read fast, so a longer epic would be perfect) and this one caught my eye but I wasn't sure about it. Now that I've read what you have to say, it sounds to me like it might make a good choice. I am also an avid reader and like the sorts of books and strong characters you seem to enjoy.
