The Moment of Truth Review Summary

If you are looking for a game show that deal in the cold hard truth, no matter who gets hurt, The Moment of Truth might be your cup of Sodium Pentothal. Premiering in Jan 2008, The Moment of Truth Is based on the premise that Americans will tell the truth for money. Just to be sure it happens like that, contestants are polygraphed before the show while being asked 50 questions. 50 very personal, in cases, questions. Some of these questions are then asked of the contestant on the show without them knowing the results of the polygraph. Often family members and/or friends are present. The more questions are answered truthfully, the more money can be won. Many reviewers initially liked the premise, but not the execution. Mainly they felt that the questions were too intrusive and risk of lives being ruined too intense. As one said, "Just being on the show could ruin your marriage, your relationship with your family, or even cost you your job." ,and, in the end, watching it made them feel "Like taking a shower and washing the TMI off of me."

I love this tv show.  Although it may seem fake and untrue while many peole go on the show and reveal that they cheated on their husband or wife, isn't that the point of the show.  You must tell truth so basically every ones going to know if you lie since you are hooked up to a lie detector.  The... review »

The Moment of Truth ... What it is

America is a voyeuristic country. We love reality shows and peeks into other people's lives. TV producers are well aware of this and keep dishing out more and more reality TV for us to gorge on. The latest reality game show is called The Moment of Truth and is hosted...

There's not much on TV Tuesday at 8 p.m. here, so I have checked out Fox TV's "Moment of Truth." On some levels I appreciate "truth," but when it comes right down to it, some things really do not need to be told.

Contestants on "Moment of Truth" have been checked with a lie dectector test. From the test, the show producers pick questions to ask that will be touchy. I think touchy may be too kind. These are confessions that could be potentially devastating.

You could not pay me to be on "Moment of Truth," and I'm not a secret keeping type of person. I suppose I tell "little lies." When I say this,...

I was anxious to see this show.  The idea behind it is pretty fun.  They ask a series of difficult questions to answer, things like, "Have you ever stolen from your employer?"  And if you answer the truth, you move on to a chance to win big money.  If you try to lie your way through a difficult answer, then you're kicked off the show and win nothing.

But here's the thing.  When I was watching it, everyone on the show seemed fake!  Not just the contestants themselves, but even the 'family members' that are there offering support. The questions asked, usually somehow involve the members of...

I think that this show is a little to over the top.  I just don't like the fact that they can ruin marriages.

I have watched this show twice, once to see what it was about and the second time to give it a second chance. While the questions being asked are just what America wants these days; drama, suspense and surprise, I think this show is hurtful and disgusts me. To think that someone actually values money over hurting their spouse just has me in utter disgust. The other thing I hate about this show is that there are very long delays and pauses in between the questions and answers. Let's just get to the point people!

Moment of truth is by far one of my favorite shows on right now. People go on this show knowing that the truth is going to come out no matter if you tell the truth or not. Now don't get me wrong many people could potentially be hurt by some of the things revealed, but they too know the consequences.  There are numerous questions asked throughout the show. If you are brave enough to make it to the end there is a reward in the form of cash waiting. If the contestant has had enough they are free to walk away with the money they have one. At a certain point on the show the contestant is able... review »

I have mixed feelings about this new tv show. But I love it. It is so surprising to see some of the answers the contestants give. Some people are way to honest for the money. I personaly would never want to tell my friends and family what I really truly think about them for all the money in the world!!!!  But at the same time the contestants family also learn of indescretions that are done on the contestants part. There must be alot of divorces and loss of friends and family members after the show. But yet it is so fun and interesting to see the contestants reaction. And well that red button... review »

Talk about drama!! This show is everything that america loves!! It has people willing to tell the honest-down-and-dirty truth just for money!! Don't get me wrong.. I love this show, but sometimes i can't help but wonder who is coming up with the questions!! I'm positive that the show will only result in people being dumped, divorce, disowned and of course fired!

But, that is exactly the sort of thing that we as americans love to see! Watching people admit some pretty horendous things only makes us feel better about the mistakes we make!!

A little advice for some people considering going on the show:...

I saw this show the other night for the first time and it is off the hook with a capital "H".  Who would actually volunteer to do a show like that?  Unreal!!  The show I saw was actually quite comical.  The woman ended up totally embarrassing herself for starters.  She revealed that she cheated on her husband, she's still in love with her ex boyfriend and she keeps secrets about her dad away from her mom.  With all that juice spilled this woman walked off the stage without a penny in her pocket and had to go and face her family!!!!

This just shows you that people will do anything for the almighty $, no matter who gets hurt.

Why would you bring your parents, girlfriend or wife on,knowing full well that if you answer with the truth, somebody is going to get hurt in the end.

The young man in this weeks show had NO respect for any women, much less his girlfriend. But his buddy sure loved it.

When you watch, just think how you would answer the same questions. Would you lie!

Good Show to watch to see other people struggle, but I wouldn't want to be them!

I think the previews of this show are very interesting but the show sucks.  It is boring and seems kind of cruel and pointless to me. The long pause before the results  are revealed is more irritating than suspenseful.  I believe that the higher level questions could be devastating to family members involved and I am not sure I want to see someone's life ruined or torn apart on national TV just for the sake of ratings and someones greed.  I think the show could have potential, but it would need to have a major re-haul.

OK, it's an OK show.   When the show goes to commercial it shows the upcoming questions and when it comes back from commercial it shows the previous questions & answers.   The long, long, long pauses in between questions are idiotic since we already know they got the answer right.........because we saw the upcoming questions before we went to commercial!   I say get rid of the pauses and add more people to the show OR make it a half hour.  Until then I'll use that hour of my life to do something more worthwhile.

Some of the previews caught my attention. But after a contestant admits to doing something horrible, what's with the wait time to see if the computer found the same result? Why would he admit to doing something ridiculous if he didn't actually do it? And the wait time in between each question is crazy long... you could read a newspaper in between the question and the "real" answer. Also, the people that come along with the contestant are really cheesy and it's obvious that they're putting on fake exasperated looks.
