Check in was quick and easy. The room was at the absolute end of the hall, I figure at least an eighth of a mile from the elevators. When arriving at the room the key card would not allow us in. Same with a gal in the next room who stated she'd already gone back to the desk and received a "correctly activated" card. No go. Had to call security and they let us in with a story about the rooms previously being locked down for maintenance. Got in, but after unpacking, and calling maintenance to replace the burned out bulb in the tub, tried our keys before heading down to the casino. Nope - key still wouldn't work. Had to call security again and finally about 90 minutes later we were on our way. The casino is beautiful and nicely decorated. The restaurants are too expensive. The buffet was $45 for two of us. A sandwich and soda, $20 (although there was as least two, maybe three pounds of meat on it - really too much to eat) and a muffin and coffee cost almost $7. I guess that's the deal when you visit Vegas. We definitely got our exercise in walking to and from our room. We found that the doors don't close well necessitating a good slam, so you do hear that up and down the hall. Room was fairly average, carpet was coming up at the corner, paint was bubbling and peeling at the window and even with a bigger wattage bulb in the bathroom it was dark and gloomy. The first morning at 9 am, an in room alarm went off that woke me with a panic. The alarm went on for about ten minutes not ever telling me what to do. It was as loud as if a police car siren was right there in my room. After it stopped, I had about twenty minutes of peace before the annoying recorded message came over again telling me the problem was resolved without incident. Whew. Saw two shows at the Mirage and both were excellent. Gambling was in our favor until the last day - hmmm. The tiger display was nice although the tiger was mostly hidden. The aquarium behind the front desk is breathtaking. I think I might try another resort next time. Plenty to choose from.

Entertainment: Short Walk, definately walk to the Bellagio for the water feature - it's wonderful. Go the the Venetian and look up. People watching is at a premium.
