Ok, the physician that I worked for who practices "integrative medicine" (a cross between traditional western medicine and alternative medicine) suggested that I try the master cleanse (lemonade) diet. I googled the diet to find out the details. I purchased the necessary ingredients (lemons, cayenne pepper, maple syrup and some laxative tea). First of all, the syrup from a health food store cost me about $70.00 which I wasn't expecting. A girl who worked in the same office agreed to split the cost and do the program with me. She lasted only about 6 hours before giving up (this is not an easy thing to stick to when you have a bunch of people around you eating tempting food). Trying very hard to have will power, I made it 7 days throught the cleanse. I did indeed lose about 12 lbs, but it wasn't long before it came right back..Also, I failed to follow the part of the cleanse that advises you to ease back into eating regular foods. I became extremely tachycardic (very fast pulse rate). My pulse would be about 120 when I was just laying on the couch..This lasted about 3 days after I ceased the diet. So before trying this cleanse I would suggest that you read all the instructions carefully, and consult your physician first (especially if you have any heart conditions). It may be great if you have a class reunion or a wedding, or something else that you need to drop 10 lbs quickly for, but it is no substitute for exercise and eating healthy!
