Background
My wife attended Mary Meyer 35 years ago and her cousin attended 50 years ago when Mary Meyer first taught there. We have sent three children through the school and have many, many friends who have done the same. We are good friends with the director of the school.
Our Experience
The Mary Meyer School is set in a row house on Pine Grove in Chicago. The teachers have been with the school for years, in some cases decades. They are dedicated, genuine and loving. The school has many traditions that the kids remember for the rest of their lives. The children will learn to separate, how to play with each other, and start learning basic skills such as counting, colors, days of the week etc.
They encourage parental involvement in the class room and their is a parent led board of directors.
Admissions are competitive and it is difficult to get in. There is a history of students going from Mary Meyer into some of the best private schools in the city.
I could not recommend this school more highly.
