Definitely one of the best books I've read in a long time!

I'd like to start out by saying I haven't read a whole novel since I graduated from highschool about 5 years ago. I was reading reviews about this book and decided I'd try to pick up reading as a hobby again. I loved it! Its as simple as that! From the moment I started reading it I couldn't put it down. This book has excellent hooks and it wasn't as predictable as some of the other novels I have read (many years ago of course!). I've very excited that there is a movie for this book. I can't wait to see it.

Considering this is a book some people reading the review may have not read, I will not give a formatted essay about the whole thing! It is a book about a Afghanistan boy, Amir, and his family's servant boy, Hassan. It takes you through the journey of a world many people don't truely grasp. Reading this book while in America and knowing we are fighting a war over there, I now get a better idea of some of the horrors and frights people face every second of their lives. Some parts of their lives are the same as everybody else, and some parts you can't even imagine the truth behind the words.

I would definitely recommend this book to anybody that has a passion for learning about new cultures. Also, to anybody that enjoys a very well written book! (which I know is me!). This is Khaled Hosseini's first novel. I just received his second novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, in the mail yesterday. I've so very excited.
