Bottom-Line: The Kite Runner takes us to a world few of us have experienced, and fewer understand.  But it is still the story of us.

Afghanistan: the south-central Asian country is an enigma to most Americans, indeed most of the world.  The people that inhabit this mostly...

If you are looking for a movie that remains close to the book the whole way, The Kite Runner is the way to go. I read the book and loved it, then watched the movie. The movie kept many of the same lines as the book, but as always, the movie fails to do the book justice. I don't think it conveyed the... review »

Somehow, I ended up attending The Kite Runner today, just two days after the film went into limited release in the US. Bottom line is that this is a good film and it's worth seeing. It is a beautiful story of childhood, growing up and growing away, but never forgetting. Equally as interesting to me was the historical and geopolitical background the film delivers regarding Afghanistan and -- to a lesser extent -- Pakistan.

I don't recognize any of the names involved with The Kite Runner, so I won't bore you with a list of names that you're also unlikely to recognize. However, this film was well-acted,...

I read the Kite Runner after my 21 year old daughter recommended it.  I was immediately engrossed in the book.  My daughter even hosted a book signing for Barnes and Noble for Khaled Hosseini, and he signed my edition of Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.  I was hesitant to see The Kite Runner, especially after reading some other reviews...they didn't stay true to the book, etc and so on.  Then, too, we have the hype surrounding the Afghani boys that were in the movie and had to be relocated due to a scene in the movie.

Marc Forster did an amazing job with this movie, and anything...

Wow!  You will need the Kleenex box, because this movie has it all.  The story of two small boys and their intense bond for each other will move you and warm your heart with its familiarity of childhood friendship and its childhood innocence.  "The Kite Runner" chronicles the lives of two friends who grow up in war-torn Afghanistan who eventually get separated by two polar existences - one in Afghanistan and one in America.  The movie's storyline, spanning beyond oceans, will leave you with a sense of sadness for the childhood innocence that can not last.  But the hope that arises from dashed... review »

This movie was intense, heartfelt, and full of redemption. While I did not read the book, I must say the movie was amazing (from a non-book-reader's opinion). The story was rich, the characters were well-developed and empathy for each of them came with no difficulty. This was a wonderful story with some unique twists and amazing redemption. A true "must see". My only word of caution is that there is one scene that was particularly hard to watch as it was related to child abuse. Please be warned.

One of the most gripping storys I've read. Its been almost a year since I read this book, but the story still remains in my mind!! The Kite Runner, author Khaled Hosseini is one of the best I've read. The story is heart wreching to say the least and I am sure you'll not put it down without a tear !! The lives of Amir and Hussain, the relationship they share when Hussain is a worker with Amir and the emotions Amir faces when he learns of Hussain being his half brother gives us a klidascope of images.

The Kite Runner was an amazing movie. The film captured my heart. I read the book before I saw the movie, and was so happy to see the details of the characters and the emotion that I visualized. It allowed me to see life from a different perspective, and to appreciate the freedom we have here in America. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone.

Usually the book is better than the movie and goes into greater detail; characters, etc.  Not so here - this movie is wonderful - one to get wrapped up in.  It is so easy to sympathsize with the characters and their feelings and emotions.  Even my husband, who doesn't care for subtitles as a rule, enjoyed it very much.

This movie helps one to embrace  another culture and see a true friendship on-screen.  The realities of life were present in this film but were overcome in the end.  Great movie in which I would highly recommend to all.
