The Invasion Review

   I like Body Snatcher movies, I really do. However, I've just finished Joel Silver's The Invasion and come away without the sense of dread I've felt after viewing the others. In a word...it's boring.

   In the film starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Jeremy Northam, a space shuttle crashes to earth infested with a sentient galactic virus that spreads rapidly, turning people into emotionless drones. There are no pods ( big mistake! ), only people running around trying to spit cosmic phlegm into other people's mouths. There are a few who are immune. One of these being Kidman's son. They try to flee Washington DC with ex-husband turned alien in hot pusuit.

   It was nice to see Veronica Cartwright ( who starred in the far superior 1978 remake ) in a small role as one of Kidman's patients. But unfortunatly the movie plods along at a snail's pace and never instills the chills and unease of the earlier Body Snatcher movies. Another thing that bothers me is the film maker's stance that the world would be better off if we were pod ( or in this case, phlegm ) people.

 Anyway, I recommend that you watch any of the other Invasion Of The Body Snatcher movies and leave this one alone.
