The Incredible Hulk (2008) Review Summary

After watching The Incredible Hulk, reviewers are saying, "If you're a fan of the original series, than this is the film for you." Ed Norton and Liv Tyler star in this Stan Lee-produced film version of what was once a TV show starring Bill Bixby. While most enjoyed Norton's performance, it wasn't the same with "Tyler's bad acting." You don't have to be a Marvel comics fan to enjoy The Incredible Hulk, however, as even women who have never read any of the comics still walked away from this experience calling it "a really fun movie." Mostly fans seem to enjoy the visual effects, as they're "good and not over-exaggerated," unlike the first movie version, prompting reviewers to plead, "give Hulk another chance!" They also seem to be throwing down the guantlet, noting Marvel and Lee have "done justice with this movie and a sequel or crossover should be amazing." How about The Incredible Hulk meets Iron Man?

I'm not big into the super hero movies, but I did like The Hulk.  Ed Norton was fantastic, although next to him Liv Tyler's bad acting is even more apparent.  It's not the best movie ever, but it is certainly entertaining, and with the mix of action and romance, it's a great movie for both girls and... read full review »

I was pretty disappointed in The Incredible Hulk.  The TV series was very popular when I was growing up and my family watched it together regularly.  I was hoping that this film would be much better than the first, since I am a huge fan of Ed Norton, but sadly it wasn't.  The first few minutes of... read full review »

The Incredible Hulk is not a movie I would have seen on my own.  I'm female in my early 50s and while I look back on Bill Bixby's TV version of the Incredible Hulk with fondness, I don't know that much about the world of Marvel comics.  My guy, however, is a little younger than I am and knows everything there is to know about the wonderful world of Stan Lee.  His anticipation of the film was so infectious, and the trailer I'd seen a few weeks before piqued my interest. And let's face it, Edward Norton cannot give a bad performance.

I'm not going to give away any of the plot here because 1. Most...

This movie was so incredible. Honestly, after the last "Incredible Hulk" I was somewhat skeptical going into the movie that it would be a hit. It  was 100 times better than I thought it would be thanks to the choices of actors/actresses and the computer graphics. I would tell anyone who hated the last one to give this one a shot. Maybe, just maybe, they will be knocked off their seat like I was. With all the comic book based movies that came out this summer it is definately difficult to pick a best. Therefore I'm not telling you this blew the others out of the water, but it gave the other comic... read full review »

My fiancee and I went to the second showing for The Incredible Hulk (the first showing was at 10:45 am, a little too early).  The movie was better than the Ang Lee adaptation in 2003 (Hulk), immediately during the credits the story is unfolding (unfortunately during the credits, the film was kinda cut off because of the projection operator not doing his job, it was fixed promptly) and leads up to Bruce Banner being on the run in South America.  Overall the visual effects were good and not over-exaggerated as in the original Hulk movieEdward Norton as Bruce Banner was a good choice (and pleasantly... read full review »

I was a bit sceptical of Edward Norton as the Hulk... but I find Edward to be a superb actor so I gave this movie a shot.

I was expecting this movie to further the story line from the earlier released "the Hulk" movie but it seems the direction they went with was more of just an alternate telling of much of the same information.

They did refine some details and tighten the storyline up to the comic book tales a bit more so if you a fan of the comics you will like this tale.

At times the cgi hulk is a bit too distracting... and unless you are into cameos and nods then those can add up too. (Stan...

there are better ways to make weapons other than the incredible hulk; even the cave men have perished; now crouching tiger hidden dragon only used a dart; kevlar dupont would not have competed with the thick skin of the incredible hulk and his nemesis; that is one for the body armor; me wifey is 5 feet and i am 5 feet and 9 inches; train her to fight and shoot a pistol however we are basically peaceful; i did not go to war because of a heart murmur; me brother doug went to vietnam and got shrapnels of bullets near his heart-purple heart medalist;

I took my mother (and my four kids) to see this for her birthday.  I had high hopes for the latest Hulk movie, and I wasn't disappointed.  Just start fresh.  Pretend that the first Hulk movie didn't happen, and give Hulk another chance. Don't get caught in the CGI Hulk controversy and just enjoy the film on a human level.  Norton does a great making the Hulk into a real character.  The subtle nods to the TV show and the comics were a nice touch that can be appreciated by both fan groups.

After years of trying to adapt the Marvel comic legends to the movies the production companies finally have it perfect. "The Incredible Hulk" is a masterpiece of writing, filming and casting. Each actor suits their character perfectly, the special effects are amazing and the storyline builds well and meshes together nicely, however it can be a little slow at times. The Marvel empire and Stan Lee are done justice with this movie and a sequel or crossover should be amazing.

You should definitely give the HULK another chance, I did. Actually I waited until the DVD was out. I was very disappointed with the previous movie, but the 2008 is great, the action is good and it keeps you in the edge of your seat until the very end of the movie. If you like action movies with a lot of explosions and great sound and visual  effects, Buy it.
