The Ice Storm  —

I so vividly remember going to see 'The Ice Storm.'  I was in New York City.  It was October 1997.  A friend and I decided on 'The Ice Storm.'  A movie I will never forget.  Just a wonderful depiction of the 1970s and suburban life.

The film is directed by Ang Lee ('Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,' 'The Hulk,' 'Brokeback Mountain.').  It features so many amazing actors:  Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Tobey Maquire, Christina Ricci, Elijah Wood, Adam Hann-Byrd and Katie Holmes.  Rick Moody is one of the two writers.  So, we have a powerhouse of talent from the get-go.

'The Ice Storm' is a film that's hard to describe.  Part suburban deconstruction, part societal interpretation.  It's a movie you will hate discussing because it's too perfect to discuss.  It's got it all.  Dealing with affairs, young love, drug abuse, death and everything in between.  I highly recommend this film to anyone who missed it.  It's one of the unsung heroes of the 90's.

People liken it to Ordinary People and American Beauty, but it goes so far beyond.  I don't want to give anything away, so just check it out..  Please.  Now.

This is one of my faves. Everything down to the decor and wardrobe is perfect. Why have so few people seen it?

I missed this one. I think I need to hit the video store. Nice review.
