I saw the preview for The House Bunny when I went to see Mamma Mia.  An older friend and I thought it would be nice to take her mother to see it for her birthday.  Last night the three of us planned a girl's night out--dinner and a movie.  The movie was simply overrated but it must be doing something right because it was #2 in the nation, second only to Tropic Thunder.  I believe a lot of the credit would go to Anna Feris (Shelly)--who wouldn't want to see a movie about a ditzy blonde, beautiful lady.  There was only 5 people in our theater (an older couple) but we were there at 4:20.  I was wondering if the majority of the sales would be accounted for by the male population wanting to see a Playboy Bunny in action.  I'm not stereotyping--I wanted to watch it because I was in a sorority in college and I thought the movie was going to be hilarious.   It was very funny but I felt as if most of the funny moments were played during the previews.  I did think the movie had a good story line--be true to yourself.  It showed how we succomb to society's expectations but that we can also just be ourselves.  The main reason I didn't care for this movie was the language.  I was appalled at how often the "B" word was used.  I couldn't believe this was a movie that young people would go see.  I was apologizing to my friends at the end of the movie because they know my standards and knew that the language really offended me. I also thought this movie showed a little too much skin for the age group it would cater to.  I wouldn't want a teenage girl thinking it was okay to flaunt her stuff in the coochie cutter shorts and barely there tops.  The first thing I did when I got home was call my best friend and beg her not to let her 15-year-old daughter see it.  She said a church friend saw it earlier during the day and told her the same thing.  I also expected a better story line/role for Rumor Willis (Demi Moore's daughter).  In my opinion her transformation didn't represent the same girl that we see in the media and tabloids and the movie lagged for well-known actors/actresses.  I wouldn't pay to see it again.  I wouldn't buy it on DVD and I won't watch it with anyone again.

It almost sounds like a stroll through any mall where young people go to me. I have not seen it but just walking through a mall I see the same thing all the time. I don't agree with the language though as Hollywood has gotten a bit free with that in the past 10 years and it just gets worse. Thanks for the warning and very nice review. ;) Ron
