The time of their shared birthday was nearing (July 7, 1977) and each of them hoped that this would be the one that would end the nightmares that Caleb Hawkins, Fox O'Dell and Gage Turner had been living every 7 years for 7 days since they had made a blood brother pack on their 10th birthday out at the Pagan Stone.  Now with the help of Quinn Black (reporter & Cal's fiance), Layla Darnell, and Cybil Kinski (a paranormal researcher) they may finally find the direction that they needed to stop this evil that has been terrorized Hawkins Hollow for 20 years.  After finding a diary of a distant ancestor...

The second in Roberts' Sign of Seven trilogy, and a bit stronger than the first. The three emerging couples in the trilogy each embody an aspect of vision: past, present and future. The Hollow represents the second stage of preparation for the showdown between good and evil.

The backstory: three boys, all born on the same date (7/7/77) become blood brothers on their 10th birthday, and unwittingly unleashed a long-buried demon. For seven days chaos and evil reins in Hawkins Hollow, their small Maryland town. And every seven years, it comes back even stronger. Now in 2008, they prepare for the third...

I did not read the first book in this series, but even without it, I can appreciate the drama! I swapped books with a traveling companion on a flight because we had each finished our own. I was pleasantly surprised as the romance was kept to a modest minimum and the focus of the book was on the plot, which although sci-fi was believable enough. It is totally not my type of book, but I loved it, so I would say give it a shot. I am going to buy the next one as soon as it is out!

Nora Roberts, "The Hollow" is the second of her newest trilogy, and as enticing as any that she has written. In the second installment, she takes on the battle with evil with her new heroine, Layla, and her night in shining armor, Fox. Layla doesn't give in easily to the events in the Hollow although she's been drawn in both spiritually as well as by her new age boss, Fox. Fox, whose sole purpose in life is to protect all those in the Hollow that he loves, is torn by protecting the new interest in his life and dealing with old spiritual losses that have haunted him for years.

I really enjoyed this series by nora roberts.  The subject matter was much darker than in many of her books and to me seemed a little less cookie cutter than her other books.  Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan but all the books have the classic features and follow a pretty set formula.  This one is less about the romance and more about a unique story line.  It also has the bonus of using three books to really delve into the back story and unique perspectives of the 6 main characters.  I enjoyed the romantic/sci fi mix and thought  the book was highly entertaining

While "The Hollow" was a good book, if you are a fan of Mrs. Roberts, you have definitely read better. The story and characters, while interesting didn't not draw you in as much as the previous book. However, "The Hollow" does set up what appears to be an excellent finale to the trilogy.

Nora Roberts is by far my favorite author.  I buy every book as soon as it is available.  I really like this series because I like books with a paranormal twist.  I also like trilogies, because it lets you see what happened to the other characters.

I LOVE Nora Roberts. I just do not like waiting sooooo long in between books. I have to wait a while when a new book comes out from her, because I can read it in two days. Then I have to wait for the next one to come out. I enjoy all her books I. I like how she brings all her books to life, makes you really feel like you are there observing everything that is going on in the books.
