"The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostovic is the greatest vampire story I have ever read. The author raises her pen and slams the reader down into the story. Eastern European cities and villages come alive in the pursuit of the King of the Vampires - Prince Vlad Dracul. You can smell the antique manuscripts as the characters visit the most obscure libraries on a scavenger hunt to find the true location of the impaler's castle and secret library that contains the most valuable "lost" tomes in history.
