This is really an amazing book, and quite different from other celebrity autobiographies that I've read. Anyone who knows the Hair Bands of the '80s knows Nikki Sixx as a member of Motley Crue, and knows the band's reputation for living the wild life. It's all true, and there are many partying stories included here, but Nikki focuses on his increasing heroin, cocaine and alcohol addiction during the band's heyday. He is brutally honest, but does not preach. He lets his story teach you it's own lesson. His childhood was harsh, and he felt abandoned by both his parents and was mostly raised by grandparents. He does explore how this contributed to his addictions later in life, but in the end, blames no one but himself. I may be biased because I am in the addictions field, but I recommend this book (and the CD by the same name) to anyone is going through, has gone through, or knows someone in the throes of addiction. I honestly have never read anything more real or honest about the subject, and I know Nikki is helping people everyday.
