I used to love Amazon Reader's picks because I found a lot of books to read that I wouldn't have found or read because they were not from my usual genre of books to read.
This book is one such book, that I discovered after reading reviews here.
What a great book. I read it in one afternoon. The honesty, the brutal truth, it was all there. I was also impressed with Nikki's voice. He was open and honest with his flaws, he did not make any excuses for his life and he is reaching out to help others.
When I compare this book to "A Million Little Pieces" only the subject of addiction is the same. Of course we all recall what happened to the author Mr. Fray on the now infamous Oprah Show, but in terms of providing a stark blunt description of addiction they both provide an insiders view. However, this book paints a far more realistic (more so than the fictionalized account of Mr. Frey's life) voice of addiction.
Nikki Sixx states that he is telling his unflattering, painful story in the hopes that it can help just one person. I am sure it already has.
I just had to add, Vanity-- yikes, even sober she seems insane, her sober writings are far more out there than Nikki at his highest and most dopped out. I am not against a Christian message, I am just not sure where she is comming from or going to.
