The Green Mile Reviews

In March of 2001, I received a paperback copy of The Green Mile, a late-1990s novel by Stephen King which had originally been published as a 19th Century style "serial" novel.  Instead of giving readers the whole book in one volume, King and his publisher released a chapter or so on a regular basis (every six weeks or so, I believe), echoing the publshing tradition of Charles Dickens' time in which huge works such as David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities were published in monthly installments.

I don't watch a lot of television, and never watch movies unless someone recommends one to me. (I'm an avid reader instead).

I've seen The Green Mile 3x now, and while it is not a common thing for me to watch "feel good" type movies, this one so touched my heart. Tom Hanks, I've come to think of as one of the best and most innovative and versatile actors of our time, but the rest of the cast is outstanding as well.

I think it's just  a very well written and directed movie. Big High Fives from this country gal!

I READ THE GREEN MILE AND THOUGHT THE BOOK WAS GREAT.  THEN THE MOVIE CAME OUT AND I WENT TO SEE IT.  I WAS EXPECTING IT NOT TO BE AT ALL LIKE THE BOOK, BECAUSE THE BOOKS ARE ALWAYS BETTER.  THIS TIME THE MOVIE WAS JUST LIKE THE BOOK AND IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE.  ALL THE ACTORS PLAYED THEIR CHARACTERS SO WELL.  I GIVE IT 5 PLUS STARS, GREAT PICTURE

The Green Mile was one of my all time favorite book series.  When I read these books they were put out monthly and I couldn't wait for the next one to come out so I can spend my evening reading it.  I am an avid reader and this was one of the fastest read series I ever encountered.  I couldn't put it back down once I picked it up.  Amazingly enough, the movie was portrayed as close to the books as I have ever seen.  The actors chosen for the different characters in the books were perfect.  Tom Hanks is an amazing actor and just made the movie as entertaining for adults as well as the younger...

I absolutely love this movie. I could watch this movie a thousand times over.  Tom hanks played a great roll in this movie and so did the man that played john coffee.  I have seen this man in a few films since the making of the green mile and he doesn't seem like the same man.  When in the en john turned out to be innocent it was heartbreaking to know that stuff like this happens in real life all the time.  They just assumed that because john was there that he killed those little girls when that wasn't the case at all.  It was the guy that was working for the parents of the little girls. ...
