The Golden Compass Review

I enjoyed the books, and this film, like the book, pretty much serves as a staging ground for the next two. The problem this movie movie suffers from is that they have so much story to tell, they feel compelled to repeat the important points over and over again just in case you missed them. This is pretty disruptive to the story, since the opening narration tells you everything that's going on, and figuring that out is pretty much the driving force of the plot.

 That being said, the movie is a visual feast with strong characters and a constantly moving story. A great film to see over and over again.
