The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a must read for anyone who reads mystery, family sagas or just plain well written novels. Set in Sweden it has a murder mystery, a financial conspiracy and history. The characters are well fleshed out and the plot is well paced and believable. I literally could not wait to get back to reading it when I had to go to work. I have recommended it to many people and all have been impressed and want to know when his next book will be out. (soon hopefully)
The only downside is that the author died after delivering three finished manuscripts and one unfinished draft....
review »I happened upon this book at an airport newsstand while looking for something to occupy me on a six hour flight. I had narrowed my choices down to one or two viable candidates, but based on the glowing reviews on the back cover, I decided upon The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and man, am I glad I did. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It did take me a while to get into it, about 100 pages or so, but once I did, I couldn't stop reading. It was almost like two stories in one. The primary story is a great mystery that starts with the disappearance of a girl some 40 years earlier...
review »I've been listening to books on tape for more than three years now (through audible.com) and have become addicted. I'm currently on my 118th listen. When I read all the glowing reviews for this novel, I expected that it was a result of readers jumping on the bandwagon and praising a book only because others had. Then I listened to it and climbed aboard. I, like Mikael Blomkvist, had trouble keeping up with all the members of the Vanger family.
